Obstacle? Superpower?
When I was on the edge of that cliff in Bondi, making my first ever film for Tropfest (ended up being a finalist), I was feeling brave. Needless to say, this was a long time ago and yes, I am a veteran now!
Named “She saw the Seesaw”, this was one of many scenes, filmed at different locations, with a cast of thousands (as the saying goes). You see, as I was busy helping others make their Tropfest Films, John Polson, the Founder, suggested I make my own!
I ran with it
So off I went, wrote the script, then launched into pre-production, excited, creating my masterpiece. Little did I know that you need a permit to film in some places, or that many locations and many actors equal many headaches and many chances for things to go wrong! Things did go wrong. As producer, co-director and actor, I was in a state of anxiety.
The show must go on!
It did, I pushed through, despite myself in so many ways. The film was completed and it did, indeed screen at Tropfest! It was such a humbling experience, watching my masterpiece exposed to the world.
