How to Love what you Hate Doing!

How to Find Inspiration in the Mundane!

Did you know that a staggering 85% of people hate their jobs?

So often, when I advocate we all deserve to do what we love, I hear others say, “it’s easy for you to say”, or “some of us don’t have that luxury”, or “ I can’t afford to do what I love” and the list goes on. I strongly disagree, in fact, when I didn’t do what I love in the past, I simply got sick and couldn’t do it, my entire being rebelled!

If you’d like to know more about all that, I recommend you read this article Why I have to do what I love. Know that the only limits we face are in our imagination. Our own inner critic, limiting beliefs, there are so many names for these blocks, these stories we tell ourselves.

In the meantime, how do you find inspiration doing what you hate?

Here are some ways to make your days more enjoyable! Firstly, find #inspiration in the mundane, in the things you hate to do, like perhaps the job you do for a “living”.

Why is Inspiration important?

Inspiration is the source of creativity and joy. When we experience inspiration we feel that everything is possible, we feel excitement with the dawn of a new idea. Our minds overflow with ideas, we feel a sense of well-being, we begin to communicate our thoughts and put our creative ideas into action.

The by- product of inspiration, creativity and joy is a heightening of our immune system. When we feel happy, our bodies feel happy. Every cell in our perfect and complex body sings. When we are inspired and joyful we feel a certainty that we are on the right path. Inspiration gives us purpose.

Wouldn’t it follow then, that inspiration is indeed helpful? My wish for humanity is that we experience inspiration more and more. It may be an inspiration to start a project at home, to start a business, to write a book, to start training, learning, travelling, to become an athlete or a musician, an artist or a tycoon.

Do you remember beginning to do anything you were inspired to and the feeling with it? Perhaps it was a song or a story that inspired something in you, or the beginning of a new endeavour. When we are children we re constantly inspired by new discoveries. We see the realm of all possibility.

What then happens, as we grow older? Our conditioning moulds us and worldly concerns cloud our minds. We develop our own story. We begin to lose our sense of wonder and inspiration. We have responsibilities and obligations. We have our dramas. Who has time to come home to oneself?

The best way to Love what you Hate Doing, is to Find the Inspiration in it!

  1. First of all, what inspired you to do it in the first place? There must be a reason you do what you do, even if it is money, think about what that money gives you… Perhaps the freedom, or that new toy you bought can bring you joy.
  2. Find the Fun in it… Even if it is the daily grind, find something fun about it, look at it from a different perspective. For instance, say you hop onto public transport to travel to and from work daily. Everyone is on their phone, no one talks to the other, or there are looks of resignation on faces. If you are able to take yourself away from your phone and begin to practice mindfulness, you will activate your senses and your inner child will start to make new discoveries. The same applies for work, any work, in your job, your home, it doesn’t matter. Allow Your inner child to come out to play for the day! Your inner child will always provide you with excitement, wonder, discovery and fun.

You can always find inspiration if you look for it. That can turn anything you hate to do into love. Inspiration is the spice of life, I wish it on everyone! If you don’t find it easy to access, I recommend meditation, sitting in silence, connecting to your higher intelligence. Also inspiring visuals, like a vision board, or watching a great film, listening to an inspiring song…
