Do Women Slight Men?

What Men and Women Say

Men have long been threatened by the feminine. If they weren’t, why would women suffer subjugation throughout history?

Here we are in 2022 and abortion is an issue in USA, girls cannot attend high school in Taliban ruled Afghanistan, as they deprive women of their livelihoods, even their identity. There are places where women cannot leave the house. Women in India have long suffered, with acid attacks for instance, being one of the most sadistic practices. In Africa, child brides and genital mutilation still occur. In Australia, women are still paid less, retire in poverty, suffer domestic abuse. The Gender Gap remains, just have a look at statistics around the world.

The good news is, we are getting better at speaking out and taking action.

The #G100 for instance is bringing 35 million women together in 100 countries to affect real change. You are welcome to join us. I am honoured to be named Australian Chair, Entrepreneurship. For me, it is a dream come true to see so many women join together. A part of that includes the Denim club, men who actively empower women.

When I was launching my first company to empower women , at the age of 52, you can too, amazing men helped along the way. They gave me business advice, mentored and coached me. They have been most generous indeed.

Socially, I did often hear the question however, “why are you only empowering women?”

I often come across public comments men make on articles or information to empower women. Comments such as, men suffer too, we get hurt too, we suffer from depression, why don’t you look at what women do to us, as they take women’s empowerment personally. As they perceive a slight.

There is no doubt, that as women become more and more empowered, there will be a shift in roles and relationship dynamics. When that happens, men have two choices: they can evolve with women’s empowerment, see the economic benefit for instance, or they can go into crisis as the gender gap closes and they feel a loss of control.

Women’s Empowerment is not a Slight on Men, it is a Call for freedom. Women’s empowerment is about closing the gender gap, breaking the glass ceiling, safety in relationship, equality on all levels. Women’s empowerment is permission to be all of who we are and can be.

What women say

So many of us women, have been subjugated for so long, we have lost ourselves. We have lost our confidence to do anything we want to. We are resigned to our lot, not happy with the life we are living. We didn’t sign up for it. We have had enough, but we don’t know what we can do about it. We don’t think we can.

Things like finding a job, starting a business, doing something we love seem like an unrealistic dream. It is very difficult to go anywhere from here. When you’ve been there and done that and nothing changes.

It is not your fault. It is the way we have been conditioned. It is hard to imagine something you would love if anything is possible!
