Borders in the Face of Human Survival

When crises like Covid-19, climate events, resource depletion, economic meltdowns happen, humanity reels. We go into our automatic fight or flight response and the outcome is evident all around the world today.

Greece is a prime example, buckling under immense debt and in danger of further economic devastation. Meanwhile Turkey, having accepted something like six million refugees is directing incoming refugees to Greece. In turn, there are human rights issues as, perhaps understandably, the nation is in no position to support even their own population.

As I watched a story about an out of work couple, with $6 left to their name, moving out of their home, the recession right here at home suddenly had a face. This is a global disaster of epic proportion. So what, if anything can be done about it?

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WE HAVE

Is operating with the notion of the world as we know it. Yes, we have overcome crises before and we will again, no doubt. We must, however recognise that the landscape has changed and adjust accordingly, if we are to survive and even Thrive.

Allow me to elaborate… On a micro level, of course people are worrying about paying their bills and feeding their families. On a macro level, nations will prioritise their own. Here in Australia, our state borders have been closed.

There is no doubt that this virus must be contained and measures must be taken. Beyond that however, here is an idea inspired by Doctors without Borders.

We are facing the survival of humanity. Is there a greater priority?

We are called to grow! This is an opportunity to let go of what we own on all levels, micro and macro alike. Let go of emotional attachment. It is no longer about “what’s in it for me”. It is no longer about borders and more about “how can I help?”

We are called to unite in humanity. We are called to focus on solutions. On that, if you have sustainable solutions to share for our future, check out https://www.facebook.com/SustainableSolutionsforourNewEra

We are called to create this New Era. The great news is, we can! On a personal level, using our imagination alone will create new Neural Pathways and new possibilities. For instance, online business has increased exponentially and I can attest to its success, with my own, young company to empower women.

As someone grateful for guidance and vision, my plea is to begin to consider more humane, community driven alternatives. This is a chance to do things differently, after all, we see the result of everything we have done thus far…

Idealistic as it may sound, doesn’t it make sense to drop debt, open borders when necessary, relieve humanity?

The Rules of the Game have Changed

Time to let go, focus on new possibilities and we will, once again Thrive!
